What began as a single craftsman repairing furniture for neighbours has grown into a dedicated restoration practice serving families across Canada.
The workshop started in a modest garage in Oakville, where our founder spent evenings after his day job carefully regluing chair joints and touching up scratched tabletops. Word spread among friends, then their friends, until the volume of requests made it clear that this sideline had become something more significant.
Today, our expanded workshop accommodates larger projects while maintaining the careful, unhurried approach that defined those early garage repairs. We have added team members, but each brings the same patient attention that makes restoration work rewarding.
What Guides Our Work
Furniture restoration occupies an interesting space between preservation and practical repair. Unlike museum conservation, which often prioritizes original material above all else, our work must result in pieces that families can actually use. A dining table needs to withstand dinner parties. A rocking chair must hold weight reliably.
This practical focus shapes every decision we make. We choose finishes that protect against daily wear. We strengthen joints to handle another generation of use. We repair surfaces so they resist moisture and heat. Beauty matters, but functionality comes first.
At the same time, we deeply respect the character that age brings to wooden furniture. The patina of old pine, the gentle wear patterns on chair arms, the slight asymmetries of hand-made construction — these elements tell the story of a piece and should be preserved wherever possible.
Working With Us
We accept projects from throughout Ontario and can arrange shipping for clients in other provinces. Our typical restoration timeline ranges from two to six weeks depending on the scope of work, though rush service is sometimes available for straightforward repairs.
Every project begins with a detailed consultation. We prefer to examine furniture in person when possible, but can provide preliminary assessments based on photographs for clients at a distance. Our goal is to give you a clear understanding of what work is needed before any commitment is required.
Pricing is provided as a fixed quote after evaluation, not an estimate that grows during the project. We believe transparency builds trust, and surprises about cost undermine the relationship we hope to build with each client.
